Beast of Bray Road Conference 2021

Saturday, October 2, 2021
 9 am to 6 pm

With a soft rustle of the corn stalks it appeared, 7 ft. tall, pointed ears, fangs glinting in the moonlight. I say it stepped out of the tall corn on two legs and turned it's baleful yellow gaze upon me. Frozen where I stood, my dry throat croaked, "Good...doggie..?"
Celebrate Wisconsin's favorite cryptid on its own home soil; join us for the first ever Beast of Bray Road Conference on October 2, 2021.

Tobias & Emily Wayland

Tobias Wayland is a passionate fortean who has been actively investigating the unusual for over a decade; the first several years of his investigative career were spent as a MUFON field investigator, and following that he investigated independently prior to becoming the head writer and editor for the Singular Fortean Society. Tobias is a frequent guest on various podcasts and radio shows, has contributed to several books on the paranormal, and is often invited to speak at paranormal conferences and events. He was also featured in the Small Town Monsters documentary Terror in the Skies and the series premiere of Expedition X for his work investigating Mothman sightings around Lake Michigan. He and his wife Emily have been involved with the Lake Michigan Mothman investigation since its advent in the spring of 2017, and recently published a book chronicling the experience, The Lake Michigan Mothman: High Strangeness in the Midwest.

His years as an investigator have served him best by illustrating that when it comes to the anomalous, the preternatural, and the paranormal, any answers he's found are still hopelessly outnumbered by questions.

Emily Wayland is an ardent craftsperson and devoted monster enthusiast with degrees in both photography and design. An accomplished artist, designer, and photographer, Emily is responsible not only for the Singular Fortean Society's aesthetic, but also the examination of any photographic or video evidence. Emily’s art and designs have been featured in various paranormal art shows around the Minneapolis area, as well as in the ‘Chicago Mothman’ portion of the Small Town Monsters documentary Terror in the Skies. She and her husband Tobias have been involved with the Lake Michigan Mothman investigation since its advent in the spring of 2017, and recently published a book chronicling the experience, The Lake Michigan Mothman: High Strangeness in the Midwest.

Her lifetime love affair with monsters of all varieties has led her to pursue them in real life, and she hopes that her expertise in photography will help her capture one—at least on film

Steve Ward

Steve Ward has been fascinated by the unexplained for over half a century following two major events that inspired his interest in the unexplained. Growing up in Michigan, the March 1966 UFO flap occurred virtually in his backyard. The following November a winged humanoid chased two couples down a lonely country road near Point Pleasant, West Virginia. The legend of the Mothman was born. Steve would be chasing the Mothman the rest of his life and gave him his perspective of areas of “high strangeness" or "window areas". Steve has his own podcast on The Paranormal UK Radio Network called The High Strangeness Factor & can be heard as a correspondent on Mack Maloney's Military X-Files on that same network. He has a Facebook Page called The Phantom Menagerie. He also has a chapter on the Mothman in, "Weird Winged Wonders" & in "Mothman & Other Flying Creatures of the Midwest”. He is writing a book which will deal with the underlying parallels & patterns that link different aspects of the paranormal together.

Sophia Bierman

Sophia has seen the Beast twice on her property in Hartland, Wisconsin just 40 minutes north of Elkhorn. She also has found very recent evidence of a Bigfoot in the same area.

You have likely seen Sophia most recently on Josh Gates’ Expedition X when the team was looking for the Beast of Bray Road. Sophia’s encounters were also covered on the Travel channel’s series, When Monsters Attack.

Sophia considers herself a Psychic Medium. She has 2 adult children with Autism. She has a Computer Science Degree, Accounting Degree, Certificates in Autism/Down Syndrome, Aspergers Syndrome, and ABA Therapy.

Donna & Jackie

After learning that the Beast of Bray Road and other cryptids were right in their own backyards of Wisconsin, Donna and Jackie went on the hunt. That was in 2011 and they are still out in the woods and fields experiencing the unimaginable. In their adventures they have run across Dogmen, Bigfoot, UFOs, orbs, Gremlins and even a Wereboy. Their quest continues, hoping to uncover other reclusive cryptids reported in the area such as Flying Man-Bats and Flying Witches. With all their experiences and investigations, they know to expect the unexpected. Donna can be found on her YouTube channel interviewing eyewitnesses and searching locations of sightings. She is the Midwest Director of the North American Dogman Project and has her own paranormal group, Southern Wisconsin’s Wild Ones Ohio Michigan Illinois.
